Now if he can just use his brain and personality and keep the conversation going lol. Unfortunately that's not always the case. A lot of guys go on a date with someone because that was the only match they got. I think it's disrespectful to raise someone's hope when you know you are not interested in them, but we all do things we are not proud of when we get desperate.
Considering that society is fairly permissive with men's body hair, you're probably fine. Remove body hair because you want to, do what's comfortable. Cause women are weird about height. When you consistently see height requirements for dating, it's hard to become conscious about it. Insecurity is a funny thing and comes in many forms, height is easy to latch onto if you're not successful in dating.
Personal example, sure, I'm shorter than average, but maybe it's the lack of initiating in real life, the location I'm in, or the lack of friends who have common interests outside of work that are holding me back over a few inches of height. There's always something that can improved, compared to overly focusing on something you can't, and the people who only care about the latter are likely not worth dating in the first place.
My gf who is 5'9 has made no bones about the fact she won't date guys shorter than her. I have a few friends who are 5'10 who are a little more flexible though when a guy 6'4 comes along they are all over him. To be honest, I don't blame you for being annoyed at him but did you kinda bring it up to him at the time to kinda show he was wrong about no one dating him? Maybe he just needed that quick fact check.
As for me, I don't care about height but maybe I blame that on my dad for being like 5'5 and my mom being 5' I tried to be nice about it, change the topic, compliment something else, return the conversation to our common interests Maybe, tho I think most people would have gotten that hint if that is how it was said.
In a way it sounds like he may have been complaining and meaning it as "No one I am interested in has agreed to date" but regardless, sounds like a bullet dodged. I'm 6'1 and couldn't get any date in this summer last 3 months. And don't say it's about personality. No one can know someone's personality they never talked , saw , knew. Because we're trained from childhood that you're less of a man if you're shorter, and we're exposed to snarky comments from both genders every single day to back that idea up?
This is just as ignorant as asking "Why are women such assholes about their weight? There's just too much height shaming, dick shaming, and race shaming, and it makes the weak-minded feel inferior. Because women prefer tall men. Similarly, women are concerned about the shape of their bodies because men prefer certain body types. This isn't true across the board of course, but it's generally true. And it's not societal either, it's evolutionary.
I'm not "attacking" women for having a preference. This just seems like common sense to me. I have easily seen 50 profiles that either list "tall" as a desirable trait in prospective partners or have made some comment like " If you put in your profile, "no trans, no bisexuals, no queers or anything like that", yeah, your reader could view you as a possible homophobe. The context of this thread was about the perceptions of the reader.
There's nothing wrong with having a specific preference, but some things are better left unsaid in the profile and clarified when there's actual dialogue. But for some reason, discriminating based on height and being vocal about it is not an issue. I think it just boils down to awareness. For women in general, it isn't an issue.
Good luck to any guys in getting away with listing height requirements on their profiles, though. Eh, I had a similar situation with my first boyfriend in college. We close at 9 pm. What part of closed do people have a problem understanding? I don't give a damn that your out of your heart medicine, or your diabetes meds or needles.
Seriously, you've been sick for 2 days, so I'm just supposed to let you in after we have closed? You're having chest pains? I'm sorry, were not an emergency room. Can I call for you? But I just told you, were not an emergency room, and we're closed. Yes, most of those people you see still inside have been here for an hour or more, and they were all here before we closed.
Are you sure you don't want me to call for you? Thank you for the offer, but I'm married. Have a good life! I honestly don't know why people think they deserve special treatment, or don't have to follow society's rules. Perhaps it stems in part from being told that they are special by their parents, or their teachers, that they matter, but not being told that they are no more special, or matter no more than anyone else. I personally believe it's the entitlement mentality so prevalent in today's society.
Honestly, I don't give a damn. Your health is your responsibility, not mine. If you are too stupid to plan ahead of time, that's not my responsibility. My responsibility is to my employer, and to insure that after we close, people don't keep coming in. Why are people such assholes? At my job and my college, I am forced to deal with assholes all day. They are rude, unfriendly, and judgmental.
What can I do to deal with it? Will it ever get better? Why do some people only respect assholes? Why are people friends with assholes? Why do we like assholes? Related Questions Do assholes know they're assholes? Why do people become assholes?
